The $ellout$

The $ellout$ debut CD "Drop In The Bucket" brought a new energy to the Boston music scene. They are a Punk Ska band that developed out of high school dreams of Rock N' Roll. They have definitely proved to New England, that age has nothing to do with talent. Their existing brand of rough punk rock and quick upbeats blend together to make a powerful mixture of unstoppable fun. The $ellout$ songs are direct and to the point. They write about what they know, from "Eggroll" a song about their love of Chinese food to "Joe Camel" which expresses their thoughts on smoking. They really bring a lot of personality to their music. The $ellout$ possess characteristics that make the music real. "Wakin' up is hard to do" involves the turmoil's of having to get up for school. Everyone has had a day when they can't get out of bed! On the comical side, the $ellout$ pay tribute to the old "shit on a one spot, and watch someone pick it up" prank with Pooh Dollar. Since the release of their CD, the $ellout$ have continued to gain popularity. The have opened up for such acts as The Pie Tasters, Mephiskapheles, Spring Heeled Jack, The Toasters, Amazing Royal Crowns, Big D & The Kids Table, and The Allstonians. They plan to carry on with fury and tour the East Coast in summer of '00. The $ellout$ follow up album will be out may 2000.

Tha Flow

Yo. We are kick ass ska/hip hop/reggae/punk Band from very small country called SLOVENIA. So around year 2001 we formed a group called Tha Flow with the lead singer Chris Van Der Mertve. We recorded a demo and start to play some shows. In the begining of these year we relased a brand new album titled RED FISH. So you can check four songs from the new album here on the myspace.com. We started to play a lot of rancid and operation ivy songs, but than slowly fall into the reggae and hip hop vibes and mixed all together. So now we play smooth ska punk and some reggae hip hop songs. We all live in Ljubljana which is the Capital of Slovenia. Except our trumpet Martin lives in Idrija, so that give us some hard time to join togehter on our practices. We made two videos. First video was relased last year for the singel Take it away and second is promoting on our local TV station. We hope you'll ghet the chance to check our video somewhere soon.

The 9 Spot

The 9 Spot was born out of the bands Say Uncle, Mint, and Foolsland back in January of 2003. By May of 2003, they took the stage (I mean parking lot) for the first time as a band. Soon after, they began recording tracks for what would eventually be the full-length album, "Thanks For Waiting". By the end of September 2003 they had completed the Booker's Battle of The Bands and walked away with a larger than life check for $5000 (pre-tax). This money was quickly spent to finish the already started "Thanks For Waiting" album; which was finally released in early 2004. Soon after its release, the song "Dotted Line" was featured on the Crankspiv Records Vol. 8 compilation and plans for a video were already in the works. During 2003-2005, the band played almost 200 shows/festivals with acts like The Goodyear Pimps, Skapone, Deals Gone Bad, and Dropped Once . The 9 Spot had planned on releasing another cd titled "Filthy Mouths and Bad Attitudes" in 2005, but took a very long "break" instead. In 2010 the band reformed for a reunion show at Gus's Roadhouse in Woodstock, IL. The show went over very well, but no plans of becoming a band once again were announced. 2012 is here and The 9 Spot is back! Look for new shows starting this spring and summer along with new material!

Termofrigidus

Termofrigidus es un grupo valenciano del barrio de Benicalap, que se formo en el verano del 2001 con ganas de divertirse y seguir el ejemplo de otras formaciones mas veteranas del barrio como Transfer, Los De Marras o Kólico. Por aquel entonces el grupo lo formaban: Ortega (Voz y Guitarra), Víctor (Guitarra), Willy (Bajo) y Kuke (Batería).

Al principio el grupo se define por su gran variedad de estilos, comienzan a componer sus primeros temas sin una línea marcada (rock, ska, punk, heavy) y casi sin a penas tiempo para preparar un repertorio a los pocos meses de comenzar los ensayos les invitan a participar en su primer concierto, sería el 11 de octubre del 2001 en la sala Repúblicca de Valencia, junto con Transfer, El Agente Naranja, A Pico y Pala, Los De Marras, Kolico y Peligroso Morgan.

Por aquella época aun no tenían un nombre claro, les gustaba la idea de “Ora pro Nobis”, pero nunca llegarón a aparecer en ningún cartel con dicho nombre y finalmente fue la nevera del local de ensayo que se encargaba de mantener las cervezas frías, la que les dio el nombre. TERMOFRIGIDUS!!!

En verano del 2002, graban en la Rocksala de Quart de Poblet (Valencia) un directo que les sirvió para darse un poco más a conocer. Su segundo año de vida les dejó un muy buen sabor de boca tocando con grupos como Segismundo Toxicomano y Transfer y participando el 13 de Septiembre en el Sant Rock&Roll en Benicalap, uno de los eventos más multitudinarios en los que habían participado hasta la fecha.

En el 2003 tienen una gran oportunidad, Los De Marras les invitaron a grabar un tema para su segundo disco “Gritos de Mimo”, lo que les permitió conocer y sentir en sus propias carnes lo que significa una grabación a un nivel profesional. A lo largo de este año el grupo realizo 14 conciertos en los que compartió escenario con reconocidas bandas del panorama nacional como El Ultimo Ke Zierre, Benito Kamelas, Vantroi…..y muchos más que por no ser tanconocidos no dejan de tener su importancia en la historia del grupo como Yo No Zio, Kolico, dKasta, Los De Marras, Terrorific Show, De Palo…

En ese año (2003) también se produciría la entrada en el grupo de Pere y Julio a las trompetas lo que comenzó a dar un aire mucho más ska a la banda.
En el 2004 Termofrigidus salen por primera vez de Valencia y viajan a lugares como Parla (Madrid), La Senia (Tarragona) o Guarromán (Jaen) dando un total de 19 conciertos que compaginan con la grabación del que seria su primer disco “¿Cómo dice joven?”.

La grabación tuvo lugar en el estudio/local de ensayo de Kostra Nostra situado en las afueras de Lliria (Valencia) en aquel momento ya cuentan con su amigo Andrés Galván “Pelut” como técnico por aquella época guitarrista de Kostra Nostra. El disco fue masterizado en Sonido XXI situado en Esparza de Galar (Navarra) por Juanan San Martín y autoeditado a través del sello Producciones Malditas en Abril del 2005.

Sin duda este fue un gran año para el grupo, con la salida de su primer disco el grupo empezó a darse a conocer, dando un total de 26 conciertos y llegando a lugares como, Toledo o Albacete. En este año también cabe destacar la incorporación de un nuevo miembro Jesús “El Xikillo” (Trombonista). Pasando de este modo a ser siete músicos sobre el escenario.

En los siguientes años 2006, 2007, 2008 y 2009 el grupo continúa tocando y pese a que desciende un poco la actividad y no son los mejores momentos termina participando en más de 60 conciertos compartiendo cartel con grupos internacionales o muy reconocidos como Toy Dolls, NY Ska Jazz, Obrint Pas, Los Delinquentes, Narco, Boikot, , Barón Rojo y llegando a nuevas y lejanas ciudades.

Estos últimos cuatro años tienen un sabor agridulce, ya que a parte del silencio discográfico en el 2008 se produce la salida del grupo de Willy, bajista y miembro fundador del grupo, en su lugar entra Toni.

En el 2009 preparan por fin la grabación de sus 2o disco, el grupo vuelve al trabajo con energías renovadas y con ganas de recuperar el tiempo perdido, para ayudar a dar otra pincelada de color a al banda se incorpora definitivamente a Agustín como percusionista.

A finales de ese mismo año arranca la grabación en los Estudios Illogical de Tavernes Blanques (Valencia), en esta ocasión Andrés Galván cuenta con muchos más recursos y esto se demuestra en el resultado de “A Media Hora”.

El resultado no puede ser más satisfactorio, el disco que es autoeditado en Febrero de 2010 a través de Mesdemil supone una nueva etapa para la banda, en este caso arropados por Producciones Salatal que se encargan del Management de la banda que poco a poco ve como sus expectativas se van cumpliendo y consiguen dar un salto cualitativo considerable.

Ese mismo verano Julio y Pere, trompetas desde 2003 salen del grupo por motivos personales, en su lugar entran Víctor Muria y Rubén “Piraña” actuales trompetas del grupo.

Tras menos de dos años de gira y cerca de 60 conciertos algunos en importantes festivales como Aupa Lumbreiras, Isla Rock, Anna Rock, Gazpatxo Rock, etc. Y otros incluso fuera del estado español en Alemana o Republica Checa donde cierran el escenario principal del festival Punk más importante del país, el Migthy Sounds.
El grupo está más en forma que nunca, ofreciendo directos con muy buenas criticas tanto por medios especializados como de público y sabe de la necesidad de seguir mejorando y progresando, por eso deciden esforzarse y realizan un gran esfuerzo para lograr componer los temas necesarios para grabar de nuevo a finales de 2011 de nuevo con Andrés Galván en los Illogical Estudios. El nuevo disco, financiado por mas de 300 personas que lo compran de forma anticipada, lleva por titulo “El Opio del Pueblo” ve la luz en Febrero de 2012, justo dos años después de su anterior trabajo y de nuevo es autoeditado a través de Mesdemil.

En la actualidad Termofrigidus están inmersos en su nuevo proyecto “El Opio del Pueblo” y la historia continua prácticamente igual que en su anterior proyecto.

Tercer Modulo Ska

El 9 de marzo de 2001, nace en la ciudad de Rosario Tercer Módulo Ska!. Bajo las influencias del Ska, el Reggae y del Rock en general, y con un contenido literario caracterizado por la protesta, el inconformismo, la crítica al capitalismo y al racismo, la defensa de la igualdad y la libertad. Comienzan a presentarse en distintas fiestas, bares y teatros de su ciudad, interpretando sus primeras composiciones.

Sus primeros pasos estarán signados por varias presentaciones en "Caras y Caretas", la incorporación de músicos a su formación y la grabación de un demo hacia finales de 2002.

En 2003 son invitados al "Rocksario Festirock" donde compartirán escenario con bandas como Catupecu Machu, Intoxicados, Cabezones, Carajo, entre otras. En septiembre la banda será invitada a actuar en Junior TV (Canal 3 de Rosario) y más tarde lo harán también en BOTELOS (Canal 5 de Rosario).

Continuaran los siguientes años con algunos cambios en la formación, componiendo nuevas canciones y alternando Shows propios con presentaciones en eventos sociales o solidarios.

En Febrero de 2007 se presentan en el Anfiteatro Municipal "Humberto de Nito" junto a Mimi Maura ante 5 mil espectadores.

En 2008 sale a la venta su primer producción discográfica "República Corrupción" de edición independiente y lo presentan en El Sótano frente a un gran marco de público y en la ciudad de Santa Fé. Este mismo escenario verá despedir el ciclo de presentaciones del album en el mes de Noviembre junto a WDK.

En 2009 participan de la primera edición del Ska Punk Attack en el mes de Abril. En el mes de Mayo son invitados a compartir escenario con la legendaria banda punk 2 Minutos.
